“NOTHING MAKES A WOMAN MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE BELIEF THAT SHE IS BEAUTIFUL.”
Figuring out your body can be challenging, actually most people don’t even think about it, they just throw on clothes. However, it really can make a difference to know what clothes your body will look its best in. Sometimes it can make you look and feel like a new person. Figuring out your shape can be easy with just a little dedication. The best way to do this is by looking at magazines, celebrities, and street fashion. It is also important to know your measurements. Here are some silhouettes that may be close to your personal shape.
Gabby Douglas is a beautiful girl with a nice sculpted body. Do you have the same? If your legs and arms are defined let people know. Usually when I’m helping a customer that is Athletic the hardest thing for them is that they don’t really have a curvy shape. So you should try wearing something that will give the illusion of shape. Vertical and horizontal stripes can help with that, make they can give the illusion of hips and a waist. One shoulder dresses can also look appealing, showing off your well-toned arms and also giving you a very elegant look. High-low’s, short dresses and high slits always look flattering on a well-toned leg. Honestly, I can say I never have seen any athlete leave our store looking bad in a short dress.
If you have a body shape similar to Marilyn Monroe or Christina Hendricks embrace your curves. I love to see curvy girls flaunt their shape with ruching, fitted mermaids and sweetheart necklines. One shoulder and capped sleeve dresses can also look phenomenal and give you a little more support in the bust area. Ruching can give an effect of a smaller waist and accentuate your hips. This will make you look VAVAVOOM. If you are a little nervous about showing off your curves try a strapless flowing empire dress, this will also look give an illusion of a smaller waist. BUT, don’t be afraid of gowns that fit! Be proud of your curves!
Do you have an all-around slim figure similar to Audrey? Form fitted is always good, however you need to make sure it’s something that accentuates your waist and pushes up your bust. This means a trumpet or mermaid fit. If you’re flat chested, boat necks and capped sleeves can be very flattering. Dresses detailed with lace or bows are very sexy on a slim figure. Also, try on a ball gown, peplum, or something similar with a very fitted top and a natural waist that flairs out dramatically to give you an hour glass figure. Whatever you choose, make sure your dress defines your waist!
